Jours is a local-first application. Your entries, settings, and custom fields are stored in a database on your device — not on our servers.
Nothing by default. The native apps (macOS, iOS, Android, Windows, Linux) do not send your data to us or any third party unless you explicitly enable a connection. There are no analytics, no trackers, and no account requirement in the native apps. The local apps are free — this is not a data-for-product trade.
Each connection only activates when you set it up in Settings → Connections, and only touches the data described:
You can take a receipt photo or choose one image to fill an editable entry. Jours does not scan your photo library or save an entry until you confirm the fields. On Apple devices and Android, on-device text recognition is available without an AI connection.
If you choose AI reading, the selected image and receipt-reading instructions are sent to the provider you connect: OpenAI (ChatGPT or API) or Anthropic (Claude API). A photo may contain a merchant, purchase details, an amount, a date, or other information visible in it. Choose a photo you are comfortable sharing. Provider retention rules, account limits, and charges apply. Jours does not store the uploaded image in its ledger or use it for advertising. Gemini is unavailable in this release.
Native photo reading sends images directly to the selected provider. Hosted web photo reading passes images through the Jours server without retaining an uploaded image file. Providers may retain requests for security, abuse monitoring, or other purposes under their account terms; an image is not guaranteed to disappear when reading finishes. See OpenAI API data controls, OpenAI privacy policy, and Anthropic privacy policy.
Optional ChatGPT sign-in exchanges a device-generated app-instance identifier and authentication information with OpenAI. Jours retains the returned account identity and session credentials in device-protected storage to manage that connection. Disconnecting removes its local credentials; provider account data and any provider-retained requests are managed with that provider.
Native AI credentials use device-protected storage (Keychain, Android Keystore, Windows user protection, or the Linux desktop keyring). Linux can use a disclosed session-only connection when no keyring is available. ChatGPT plan tokens stay in the native app under your control. The hosted web app supports API-key connections; those keys are encrypted on its server for your account. Keys and tokens are excluded from exported settings.
Your settings can be exported as a JSON file and shared. Exported files contain only preference values (theme, formats, behavior) — never your entries, tokens, or passwords. Imports are validated: unknown keys are ignored.
This support website is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It does not use analytics trackers or cookies. Cloudflare may process standard request logs (IP, user agent) per their infrastructure policy.
A separate hosted web version may exist for signed-in users. That product stores your entries in its own database when you create an account (Google sign-in; we store your email, name, and avatar URL for the account). It is independent from the native local-first apps. You can export your data (.ics, settings JSON) at any time.
Google Groups and Google Play manage tester enrollment. If you join the Jours tester group, group owners and managers can see your Google account's membership information and email address to manage test access. Other members cannot view the member list or member email addresses. You can leave the group and the Play test at any time. The beta page does not collect a sign-up form or use analytics. Feedback you email to us is used to respond and improve the app; please use fictional entries and omit private financial information.
Jours is intended for people aged 13 and older. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Optional AI connections remain subject to the provider's age, account and parental-consent requirements.
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do.
